We gave away this guitar!

Thanks to the generosity of a local woodworker, The Exchange received the gift of a handmade cigar-box guitar autographed by the members of the band Cabinet, and we raffled off the one-of-a-kind collector’s item for the benefit of our Blues programming.  Tuned for slide Blues, the four-string electric/acoustic guitar has a vintage 1969 Pennsylvania license plate as its sounding board, with a body of white oak and red oak, a neck of hard maple, and a fretboard of cherry bound with walnut – all of the wood harvested in Pennsylvania.  Cabinet granted permission for the instrument maker to use for the band’s “keymoon” logo to appear on the headstock; find out more about the band at CabinetMusic.com.

The drawing took place at The Exchange on Wednesday, September 27th, 2017, during the intermission of that evening’s Listening Room with Clarence Spady, and Clarence himself drew the winning ticket.  Walt Comsiak of College Park, Maryland, now has this instrument in his collection.  Before drawing the name, Clarence took the guitar for a spin, and he made that little box sing!
